Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am on metortoporlol 25mg and I recently have run out of my medicine! The family doc will not refill until I come in and see her as well as a heart doc. And I am in between switching doctors at the moment (family physician) and I tried to make an appointment with my heart doc and the lady on the phone said my doc had no open appointments and that a nurse would call me. Well two days later and trying to still get an appointment nothing has happened or no received calls from them. I am very scared on what to do because I was told that I can not just stop this medication. Any advice would help!
Hello and welcome to HCM. As an Urologist,i can understand your concern. Metoprolol is given to control your B.P. It also helps to keep your pulse rate in control. You should not stop it for long time,as it can raise your B.P. and pulse rate. That will increase the risk factors, affecting your body and health. So go to a doctor or a licensed pharmacist and re-start the same dose. If you've any doubts, you may send a direct question to me. Dr.Matthew J. Mangat.
