What Are The Withdrawal Symptoms Of Twynsta And Telmisartan?
I am 66 year old in good general health. I take Twynsta (80mg/5mg) BP tablet with compound Telmisartan/Amiodipine). I started walking 4 weeks ago and walk 14 km a day. My BP average is 130-132/68-70 mmHg. Is it possible to reduce medication slowly and then eliminate completely over say 6-9 months with continuous walking. I do not smoke or drink and sleep well.
Hypertension can be controlled with both medications and other non-pharmacologic measures which includes aerobic exercise and avoidance of salty foods. Tapering of Twynsta depends on your blood pressure levels as it improves with regular aerobic exercise and dietary modification.
As your blood pressure decreases to about 100/60 with the present dose, it can then be tapered down, and hopefully discontinued. However, if your blood pressure still increases, it is more prudent to be on the medication as it helps prevent complications of hypertension like brain and heart attack, as well as kidney damage.
I still recommend frequent check-ups with your doctor for appropriate examination ans well as proper adjustment of the doses depending on your blood pressure control.
I hope this helped you. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thank you.
Regards,
