What Are Your Views On The Contraceptive Cover Of The Following Medication In The Current Circumstances?
Hi I was prescribed Diane-35, doxycycline and a retinoid cream for acne treatment. I was informed by the doctor this was a sufficient contraception; but I have been reading that this is not the case. Can you please advise, as these systems of treatment are working, and this pill is this first in 14 years that has agreed with me physically and mentally. What are your views on the contraceptive cover of this medication in the current circumstance?
DIANE-35 contains a progestogen called cyproterone acetate and an estrogen called ethinyl estradiol. It is used for contraception. The other two drugs doxycycline and retinoid cream is used only for acne and has no role in contraception. These drugs should be avoided incase you plan for pregnancy since they can cause birth defects in the fetus.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
