What Blocked Salivary Gland Along With Sore Tongue?
Earlier this week I had very dry mouth and still feel slightly dehydrated. I also have had allergies so I began a antihistamine regimen. A few days after taking the allergy meds I noticed what seems to be a blocked salivary gland and the tip of my tongue is sore. Is this because of the medication or something worse?
Hello dear user of HCM! Thank you for sharing your concerns with us!
Yes your supposing is right. One of the effects of the antihistamines is "dry mouth". They diminish produce of the secretions in general, so salivary glands, tear glands, sweat glands etc, will produce less secretions.
Try to reduce the dose of the medication you take or talk to your doctor who has prescribed you the medication to give you different drugs for the allergy. Drink a lot of water and fluids to improve the hydration.
All the best for you! Best regards! DR ERIOL.
