What Can I Do To Treat A Recurring Rash Around My Anus?

I seem to have a recurring rash around my rectum/anus. I live in Mexico where there are scents added to the toilet paper, as well the season has changed and it is now quite hot and humid. I’m not sure if these may be caused but what can I do to treat this and stop it from coming back.

Hello,

Since you are suffering from recurring rash in and around the anus, you are suggested to take care of your hygiene and keep the area dry and clean. Take regular bath and wear loose fitting cotton clothes. Do not touch or scratch. For a couple of months clean the affected area with water so that you don't hurt the area as it is already inflamed. Be gentle with yourself, avoid using wipes. If you use it, moisten it properly before use.

You can take antihistamine orally before bedtime to avoid discomfort. Applying ointment like hydrocortisone or ointment containing numbing agents are helpful. Applying ice packs reduces discomfort. Get stool examination (R/E and C/S) done to rule out pinworms and roundworms. Get STD tests done to rule out herpes, shingles, etc., your treatment will depend on the diagnosis made. Since it is recurrent, you can apply ointment acyclovir on the affected area for relief.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
