What Can Be Done For Swollen Lips, Pain, Inability To Swallow Due To Allergy To Diclofenac?

I have an 80 year old female who proved to be allergic to Diclofenac. Allergy focused in oral region and swollen lips. She is in pain and cannot swallow anything but water. Started on Solupred 40mg bd but she is still in pain. I have increased dosage to 40mg to tds (120mg) for two days and then tail off. What do you think?

Hi, thank you for writing on Healthcare Magic.
This is probably a case of angioedema. In addition to corticosteroids (Solupred) as treatment, I think you need to add an antihistamine (e.g Cetirizine) and if symptoms are severe, epinephrine injection might be needed.
I hope that answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us.
I wish you good health
