The only way to make sure you don't get the infection again is to have your partner tested, have him get treated if it is positive, and don't have sex with him until he either tests negative or if he is treated. This way you will be sure he does not have the infection when you resume having sex.

You must be careful not to have sex with anyone else, so that you are sure you are not getting it from anywhere else. However, you also must be able to trust your partner that after he is treated he doesn't get exposed to it with a different partner and then bring it back and infect you again. At least at that point if it did happen, you will know for sure that it was because he was being unfaithful. Hopefully, he will be faithful to you and you will not have this problem.

I hope this answer helps you. Of course using a condom is always important to help prevent infections, however, in your case, I would make sure he is clean like I described before resuming having sex.
