What Can Be The Cause For Heavy Bleeding From Nostril After Coughing?

HI, I AM JUST GETTING OVER WHAT I THINK WAS THE FLU, HAD FEVERS, BAD HEADACHES, CHILLS, AND A VERY BAD COUGH. NOW WHEN I COUGH HARD, I SEEM TO BLEED FROM MY RIGHT NOSTRIL. BLEEDING IS THINK AND JUST RUNS RIGHT DOWN MY SHIRT IF I DONT CATCH IT IN TIME. WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THIS?

The bleeding from the nostril can be because of the respiratory tract infection or increased blood pressure or secondary to trauma or bleeding disorders. Bleeding following coughing can be because of the negative pressure created during cough. Nothing to be panic, consult a good ENT surgeon and get it evaluated. Mean while get your complete blood investigations to rule out bleeding disorder. To prevent bleeding you can apply pressure over the bleeding spot with a cotton dipped in saline.
