What Can Be The Effect Of Sudden Stoppage Of Medicine Which Was Consumed For 2 Yrs?

My spouse has been on the med 4xday for two years and at the recommendation of his pulmonologist he discontinue the drug as it has no benefits for prolonged use, my spouse decided to stop all together instead of tapering off. What can we expect from sudden stop of the drug?

Hello,
Your question is vague as you did not mention which medicines your spouse was taking.It really depends on type of medicines the person is taking as some of medicines like antidepressants and anti anxiety drugs,and also long use of antihistiminics like cetrizine ,if withdrawal suddenly can cause symptoms in patients.Also steroids dose should also be tapered before discontinuing.As your spouse stopped taking medicine under the guidance of his doctor,so the medicine may not have any withdrawal effects as i have mentioned.So dont worry and tell your spouse to follow his doctor.
