What Can Be The Treatment For Heavy Bleeding In Menstruation?

Hi I am a 37 year old female, 1 child My gp prescribed me primolut to control heavy periods. I have a medium sized fibroid. However she said to take 3/day starting with my first day of bleeding. Also said i can take them as i wish, depending on the flow. So my period was lighter, no pain, no lining on the womb coming out. However after 10 days it went ballistic, bright red, clumps of liver like tissue, pain and soaking thru 1 pad/ hour. Like a normal period. Is this ok? Did my doctor give me good advice? I am now on my 14 th day of bleeding. I estimate another 10 days like this. What can i do? Thank you.

OB and GYN Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

Uterine fibroids may cause bleeding and at times it bleeds profusely, for that you are already taking medication. You should continue to take them. In addition, you can take tranexamic acid at times of heavy bleeding.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Naira Jahangir, OB and GYN Specialist
