my 4 year old daughter had about 6 nose bleeds today. each time, it just started to bleed fast and lasted about 3-5 minutes each time. It doesn't seem to be painful, but it scares her and me too a little any suggestions? I am going to make her an appointment as soon as her pediatrician can see her. she has nose bleeds a couple of times a week, but she has never had this many in one day.
Nose bleeds in your 4 year old daughter could be due to local trauma. Perhaps she has gone through a common cold with nasal congestion, ending up to dry crusts inside the nose. When she has tried to pull them off, the nasal mucosa has been damaged ending up to bleeding.
This might have occurred several times, explaining the bleeding during today.
Get her checked by ENT specialist to evaluate the local mucosa of the nose. Plus, get her a complete blood count to rule out anaemia as she has repetitive episodes of nasal bleeding. A complete evaluation of the vitamins (especially vit.C) is needed.
All the best.
