What Can Cause Recurring Severe Paranoia And Nightmares In An Former PTSD Patient Of Past Events?

When i was 7 years old i was run over by a bus, i developed ptsd after the event but it never really bothered me. I am now 18 years old and within the past year the symptoms are becoming extremely strong. I experience flash backs, severe paranoia and nightmares. Is there any reason why it has increased so much as of late? And is there anything i can do to stop it?

Hello
These are symptoms which you have to discuss with your psychiatrist as some symptoms need clarifications However to such a patient I would put on small dose of say drug generic name Olenzapine 2.5 mg bd .11years on bus accident and ptsd may not be cause for your current symptoms .In my patient I would have not associated ptsd with present status
it is more like a condition called paranoid status or paranoia and a psychistrist can give you nice and beneficial treatment

get well soon

Internal Medicine Specialist Dr. Ram Choudhary's  Response
Hi
Welcome to health care magic.
PTSD is a psychiatric problem with reference to the stressful events of life like, trauma, serious illnesses etc, these events create impact for whole life.
Whenever a person undergoes considerable stress, he or she may have flashbacks of the acute invent that lead to ptsd as is the case with you you. You should try stress beating manoeuvres like yoga, exercises etc and keep yourself busy doing your work so that there is less time available to be diverted towards the past events.
If the problem still persists then you should consult a local psychatrist who will advise you stress relieving medicines and with that you may come out of the past flashbacks.
I hope the advice will be helpful for you.
