Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi just had an operation on my hand for broken bone had an iv put in the other hand had no problems for 10 days then today felt a pain where the iv had been the vein was sticking right up its gone down now but has left a bruise i also felt really dizzy and shaky.
As most patients do have this common complaint of shaking of the hand, pain at the needle insertion site, etc. As this is one of the common reaction of the needle puncture and most patients do suffer that. Using icing will help easy the pain and doing simple hand exercises will also reduce the shaky feeling. It's common and nothing to worry.
Regarding dizziness, we need to check other things like HR, BP, Pulse, Etc. but I don't think it is anywhere connected to the IV insertion by any means.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
