Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son is 18 years old and has been dealing with acid reflux for years. Its to the point now he is vomiting a foamy substance. We are concerned and he has been to the doctor and they put him on meds for acid reflux but they do not help. What should we do??
As per your query your son is throughout foam on vomiting . There are a few different things that cause cause a person to throw up foam. One of the main causes is based on what you eat. If you eat an overabundance of a ice cream with a fizzy drink can cause you to throw up a foamy substance only. Throwing up foam can also indicate that you have helicobacter pylori which is a bacteria that will grow in stomach acid. The bacteria irritates your stomach and and small bowel. I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist again for proper diagnosis . Doctor may alter the dose of medicine or change it . Doctor may also order endoscopy to find out exact cause and may prescribe antibiotics . For now strictly avoid fizzy drinks , eat light and non spicy , take light walk after every meal and take antacid like gelusil after every meal .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
