What Casues A Rash And Pain On The Leg After An Insect Bite?

I was stung in the neck by something in Costa Rica last week. I had an allergic reaction and started getting hives all over my body. I took 2 Benadryl and gave myself an Epipen shot and it kept getting worse (I have an allergy to wasps and yellow jackets). Finally I was given 40 mg of Prednisone, and my symptoms went away. I continued with the prednisone for 2 more days, 20mg at a.m. and 20mg. at p.m. the first day, then just 20 mg. at a.m. the second day for a total of 100mg. over the 3 days. I started having jitteryness and discontinued on the 3rd day. Now, 11 days after the sting, I have developed a hivey rash around the sting area, and I am experiencing strong pain in my lower back running down my leg. The pain woke me up through the night.

Hi,

As per your history, you already under treatment with Prednisolone and now you have heavy rash, you may require inj. Dexamethasone, tab. Fexofenadine after consultation. Kindly consult with allergy specialist for proper management. You can apply calamine lotion for soothing effect after consultation. Kindly watch for symptoms like breathlessness etc.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
