What Casues Headache And Tinnitus While On Sulfasalazine?

I have been on sulfasalazine for about 5 weeks. Since I have started the medication I have had a very bad headache, very loud ringing in my ears, burning in my chest with strange fluttering occasionally. My first labs showed two high levels. The lymphocytes % auto was 42.5, monocytes % auto was 9.1. Wondering if this is something I should be concerned about, or will I adjust to the medication in time?

Hello,

The most common side effect of Sulfasalazine is headache, and this is the main reason why some patients cannot take the drug. Also common are indigestion, nausea and watery diarrhea, as well as mild allergic reactions such as rash, itchiness and fever.

It may also cause a metallic taste in the mouth.
It may cause tinnitus and giddiness due to vestibular toxicity or due to allergy.Avoid this drug and consult your treating doctor he may advice alternate medicine for you.
