What Casues Pain In The Left Testicle?

My 12 year old son just told me he had the most painful pain he has every had. It was his left testical and he has had pain there in the past. Is this something he should see his doctor for or is it just part of puberty? My 16 year old boy has never had this pain before.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM.
Thanks for putting up your query.
Sudden and severe pain in left testis may be due to torsion of left testis.
I recommend-
-Immediate referral to a surgeon since surgical repair procedure called detorsion at earliest is important. It is necessary to take this step this immediately as this condition is emergency causing reduced blood supply to testis. Also this condition can be recurrent if not treated.
-Urine analysis to rule out epididimytis which can also cause similar complaint.

-Pain killler like acetaminophen 400 mg every 6-8 hours can be given .
--Adequate rest and scrotal support is advised.
All the best for your child's help.Hope all will be fine.
Thanks and regards.
