Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi doc. I started the use of Ibuprofen drugs to my Pericoronitis before seeing a dentist and usually the pain reduces after the drug and sleep sets in but when I wake the pain doubles. Eventually saw a doc and I got more prescription but pretty much the same happens after the drug and a nap. Is this normal?
If you had pericoronitis that is inflammation of the gum flap over the wisdom tooth, which commonly occurs due to infection.. The infection occurs due to accumulation of food debris in between the gum flap and the tooth.. So my suggestion is to consult an Oral Surgeon and get evaluated and a course of antibiotics like Augmentin and anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen and serratiopeptidases can help.. If pain is severe then narcotic painkillers like Tramadol or NSAID like Ketorolac can help.. Also do warm saline gargles and cool compresses over the cheek..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
