What Cause A Bulging In My Vein After An IV?

I have a bulging vein in my arm from an iv that I have had for 2 weeks. A nurse gave me an antibiotic in the iv very quickly directly instead of a drip which caused me instant pain. Do you recommend any thing, I may have it looked at. How long do you think it will take for my vein swelling to go down?

Hi. The bulging should go in 3 to 4 weeks. It takes longer in some people. You dont need to show it to anyone. Dont worry about it unless it is very painful or causing coldness or colour change in your fingers. You can ask me directly as well by going to the 'Ask a Specialist ' section. Take care.
