What Cause Dizziness, Nausea And Diarrhea After A Jaw Injury?

Hello, I was riding my bike on Saturday and got hit by a car... I was going pretty slow and so was the car, I hit head on, I fell on my bike and under my chin/jaw hit the bumper of the car, I have bruised legs and scratches and split open the bottom of my chin my jaw really hurt and was swollen it hurt to open and close it but more so to bite. It has gotten better with icing and ib profen. Today I feel really anxious, dizzy, feel nauseous, diarrhea (gross i m sorry) I had a smoothie and coffee so I m blaming that but could I have some kind of head trauma?

Hello,

I can understand your concern. As you have hurt the chin area and not able to open and close the jaw uncomfortably while having pain in chewing, it seems that you have hurt the Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) which lies near to ear and is responsible for lower jaw movements.

I would advise you to visit an oral and maxillofacial surgeon for the examination of the TMJ clinically and investigations such as x-ray to diagnose if any bony injury has occured.

However, the dizziness, diarrhea and nausea are not related to the jaw injury and indicate stomach infection. You should consult a physician for this infection and prescription antibiotics to cure the infection.

I would advise you to continue with the ice application and Ibuprofen until you visit the specialist.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you recover soon.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
