Dermatologist Dr. Bharat Chawda's  Response
Hi!leanne garner,
Welcome To HealthcareMagic forum,

Leanne, there are diagnostic criteria to call any body a case of Neurofibromatoses(NF) .There are very specific skin features in NF which needs to be diagnosed. There are 7 diagnostic features which are seen in NF ,out of which one need 2 or more of these features to establish any body as a case of NF.

These are as follows:
1) 6 or more of caf'e-au-late(CALM) macules larger than 5 mm.CALM looks like irregular brown flat patch on body.
2) 2 or more of neurofibromas ( these are soft skin or brown colored dome shaped tumors on skin ).
3) small freckles on axillary or inguinal region.
4) optic glioma(needs eye check up)
5) 2 or more iris lisch nodules.(needs eye check up)
6) thinning of long bones
7) 1st degree relatives(parents ,siblings) having NF.

I would advise you to consult a dermatologist and get properly investigated as he recommends.Since I've not seen the lesions ,nor do we have any eye check up reports ,so I can only guide you in this .

I hope this answers your question.

regards,
Dr.chawda
