What Cause Orange Colored Stool After Taking Metamucil?
I am taking metamucil as prescribed and it s been about 1 week and now after a bowel movement, when I wipe there is an orange color on the toilet paper and I m afraid that it could be blood, would the metamucil have any effect on this color as it is orange flavor
Supplements and medications that can cause orange-colored stools include those containing beta-carotene and aluminum hydroxide (which can be found in antacids).
Any food with artificial yellow or orange coloring can also cause orange stools.
As stools are orange after taking laxative it is somehow related to it only.
Don't worry once you would stop medications thing would become normal.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
