You have history of having herpes. You are on acyclovir, and are experiencing tingling sensation. Only a few people taking acyclovir have reported numbness and tingling sensation as adverse effects. However, herpes virus can attack nerve tissue and cause neuropathic symptoms. You are suggested to continue taking the prescribed medicines and consult your treating doctor regarding the developing symptoms.
Get clinically examined by a Neurologist, get nerve conduction velocity test, nerve biopsy, other required imaging tests done so that the treatment can be started at the earliest to prevent further nerve damage. If the condom broke, he can get infected. He should not take the risk and get required tests done. He will be treated accordingly if tests come positive. Both of you are suggested to stay away from addictions if any. Avoid any type of sexual activity till you are being treated.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
