Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hello i am currently taking blood pressure med and i hve been averaging high normal for several weeks and yesterday i got a spike in my blood pressure. I wasn t stressed or anything of that nature. Why the spike that throws me in a swirl and anxiety because i dont know whats wrong?
Our blood pressure is controlled by different factors, both inside our body and out. Several external factors which may cause spikes in blood pressure may include caffeine-containing beverage intake, any vigorous activity, smoking, eating salty food, as well as any stressful condition. A change in lifestyle will help prevent these spikes, on top of compliance with maintenance medications.
I suggest frequent follow-ups with your doctor too, for dosage adjustment of your medications.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Daryl Derick B. Dizon, General & Family Physician
