What Causes 137 Fasting Blood Sugar After Having Betnesol Injection For Gestational Diabetes?

Hi I'm 30 yrs of age and my wt. is114 kg , I have completed my 8th month today and have developed gestational dibeties around 3 weeks back. Yesterday I was given betnisole injection and now today my blood sugar fasting is 137 which used to be less than 102 till yesterday . Is it all right as I'm being operated tomorrow.

Dear sir

Betnosol injection contains betamethasone, which is a longer acting steroid.

when ever we inject steroid into our body it causes various counter regulatory mechanisms to act which inturn causes rise in blood glucose.

so your fasting blood sugar might be raised due to this.

Secondly it is really advised to check OGTT and HbA1c once to confirm the disease status.
