What Causes 3 Painful Lumps On The Vaginal Area Of A Child?
My 3 year old daughter has three swollen glands in her vaginal area--specifically the mons pubis area is now swollen on both sides; seen initially by pediatrician and given amoxicillan for 10 days 800 milligrams a day but no cause given; going back this Wednesday for update once antibiotic is done; child does not have a bartholin gland cyst; has been treated for lyme disease (specifically lyme arthritis in knee/leg area last year), but infectious disease specialist says it is not a symptom of lyme disease; child takes showers mostly and does not have issues with wiping back to front causing fecal bacteria to enter vagina; but child has long suffered from constipation while natural remedies are given: fiberous foods, prune juice; lots of water, etc. I am not sure if there is a correlation, but wanted to add for complete picture. Based on the history you have shared, yes it can be about respiratory tract infection and may have spread from the upper respiratory tract or ear infection due to gram-positive bacteria.
And you may need to be examined in detail to rule out the spread of infection to lungs.
Antibiotics like azithromycin or co-amoxiclav may be needed. Mucous expectorants may also be used along. Steam inhalations and OTC analgesics like acetaminophen can be helpful for symptomatic relief.
