What Causes 80% Blockage Of Stents In Legs Of A 83 Year Old?

My 83 year old dad had 2 stents put in his right leg it was 80 percent blocked. That was 8 weeks ago and he suffered a minor stoke this past weekend swollen. While in a rehab. facility we noticed the swelling never really went down. Is that a problem, could it of contributed to the stroke. He had an ultra sound of the leg prior to the stoke and they said there was a good thow of blood but y is it still swollen?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The swelling may be related to the inflammatory response to the trauma from placement of the stents.

Some of it may also be due to the formation of scar tissue from this same trauma.

It should reduce over the coming weeks though complete resolution may not occur in some cases.

I hope this helps
