What Causes G6PD Deficiency?

hello , I'm a male 20 yo and am diagnosed with g6pd deficient and i need to know if i can take whey protein standred gold or it's harmful cause when i asked my mother she told me that the doctor who cured me when i was 7 yo when i was diagnosed with g6pd said that i will be 100% cured and am going to eat anything with no worries is that true?

G6pd is a enzyme that prevent oxidative stress...

So if it is deficient than chance of hemolysis is present... And so hemolytic jaundice can occur

Clinical picture depend upon degree of severity

Mostly as per history you have mild deficiency so no need for worry regarding diet

The only thing you have to do is whenever take any drug inform doctor

Because in g6pd deficit some drugs not given that leads hemolysis like primaquin, vitamin k etc...

Apart from this nothing extra done

If jaundice occurs immediately consult doc
