What Causes Guillian Barre Disease?

Within the same year, back when I was 18 years old, I was diagnosed with Guillian Barre disease. After a full recovery from that, a year later, i developed my first symptoms of MS,29 years ago. The article on the relationship between the two, if there is one, did not come through on my I-pad. Can you tell me if you know any relationship, besides their common autoimmune disease status?

Hello,

Multiple sclerosis (MS) and Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) are diseases of the nervous system. Both MS and GBS are autoimmune diseases.

This means they cause your body's immune system to attack its own tissues. They both start when the immune system attacks and damages myelin.

But GBS is an acute condition. CIDP chronic form. Ms acts on the central nervous system. GBS on peripheral nerves.

So still etiology unknown. I think I answered to your question if you have more questions feel free to ask.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
