What Causes OCD After Loss Of A Spouse?

My mom is constantly racing around cleaning, tidying, washing dishes, running back and forth as if she keeps checking things and seems to just be totally hyper at times. She just lost her husband so I think it s even worse. It seems to subside and reduce in intensity when she is distracted (for instance golfing). Other people have also noticed. Could there be something wrong?

Hello
There are different stages of grief after losing a loved one and each person goes through each stage at their own pace.
You do not mention the time since your mother lost her husband.
Also it depends on how she is functioning, like able to do her routine errands and taking care of herself.
I understand she is doing repetitive chores, this may be part of the grief reaction.
If she is loosing weight, has more than 2 weeks of noticeable crying, has an unkempt appearance, then it is time to seek professional help.
Best regards
