My granddaughter has been told there is blockage in the liver. How can that be and what is the remedy? She is 36 yrs old. Her mom died at 48 from cancer, so naturally I am very concerned! Could a gall stone travel from the gall bladder to the liver?
Yes, gallstones may cause biliary obstruction. Other possibilities are tumors or growth at the ampulla may cause instructions. The functional obstruction is seen with drugs and few hormonal changes.
Please check liver function status and ultrasound abdomen, if she is suffering from severe pain, then need stone removal through ERCP or stent placement depends upon the cause.
Please consult your gastroenterologist, he/she will examine and treat her accordingly.
