Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi Dr. Andrew Rynne, so i looked in my mouth just now and i saw like this brownish kind of spot on the soft palate and i am getting worried if its something serious. Also there if no pain at all and i dont know how long its been there for. PLEASE HELP ME :(
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain a brown spot over the hard palate can be a normal pigmentation of the mucosa by melanin pigment while can also be due to causes like smoking if you do while can also be due to hypertrophied sebaceous gland known as Fordyce's spots.. It can also be due to a condition like Oral Melanotic Macule..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Biopsy if needed can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
In case of Oral Melanotic Macule you can be advised surgical removal of the same..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
