What Causes A Bruise On The Upper Arm With Burning Sensation In Fingers?

I had an episode where my fingers on my right hand felt like they were on fire for several minutes. At the same time I saw a bruise on my upper right arm start to develop that I have no explanation for. It is 2 1/2 inches long. I still have the bruise but no other incidents of the burning sensation.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The foudroyant episode you describe sounds like either an allergic or auto-immune reaction. If everything returns to normal and you feel fit and healthy a careful “watch and wait approach” should be acceptable. However, should such an episode happened again, or should you notice new bruises, abnormal bleeding or new tiny red dots on skin or in your mouth you need to see a local physician urgently.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Alexander Davis, General & Family Physician
