What Causes A Bump Above Anus That Showed Up After Giving Birth?
I have a small bump like thing above my anus it showed up after giving birth but hasnt gone away in six months. My brother called me today and aaid he had a precancerous rectal conditon polyp. They said since he was so young he should inform sibling as its prob heriditary. Should I be concerned.
The mass that showed up at your anus after childbirth Is hemorrhoids. It's not any colon polyp. But you need to be screened for colon polyps as your brother has polyps. Colonoscopy is the test that is done to see if your colon has polyps. As for your bump at the anus, it is treated by surgical excision. As it's not causing any symptoms of pain, bleeding, you don't need to worry.
It is to be excised when it becomes infected, thrombosed, increases in size or bleeds heavily. Regarding colon polyps, please do consult a gastroenterologist for further advise and colonoscopy.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
