What Causes A Bump And Soreness On Head Long After A Head Injury?

I was beat up by my ex boyfriend back in 1997 and he threw me across the room while in unconsious and when became conscious he told me I hit my head on the corner of the speaker ( real sweet guy, not) anyway I still have a bump there its never gone away and I m concerned because its swollen and its sore. Could you please tell me if this is something that should be seen right away please.

Hi,

Noted your history of being beaten by ex boyfriend and hitting head on corner of the speaker, development of a bump on head that is sore.
Since the injury was long ago and the lump persisted means there was hematoma.
Over time the hematoma usually resolves but persistence means it underwent the changes of organization as well call, causing the lump to persist.
Since there is soreness it is possible that there is some nerve involvement in the scar or organized hematoma or development of an abscess or so.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Consult a General Surgeon for an actual examination.
CT scan of the affected area and brain as you had unconsciousness then.
Further management as per the cause found.
So not self treat or apply anything over it.
Till then take a painkiller with anti-inflammatory property like Ibuprofen if it suits you.
