What Causes A Bump On Left Side Of Head In Infant?

My 4month old has a bump on the left side of his head. His Dr. said it is just the two bones slightly overlapping and it will probably resolve on its own but if not he will need a helmet. What is the medical term for this and is it normal at 4 months?

Hello dear welcome to HealthcareMagic
Regarding a bump noticed on the left skull of your child I am suggesting strongly that your child has what is called CAPUT SUCCEDANEUM

Caput succedaneum is a swelling that occur on the scalp of an infant manifesting as a bump or lump that arise from prolonged pressure from a dilated cervix or vaginal wall during delivery which goes away within few days

Thus this can last upto 4 months but if it refuses to regress then the recommended helmet will be required

I hope this helps Regards
