What Causes A Bump On The Outside Of Labia Minora?
Hi, 2 days ago I spotted a 1/2 pea sized pimple on the outer side of my labia minora. That has happened before so I wasn t scared. Today the pimple is pea-sized, and while I was taking a bath I touched it and it burst, it had some push, it still is there. That hasn t happened before and I don t know what to do. Also, I noticed another small pimple above that one. They don t hurt but the big one feels uncomfortable when I clean myself after urination. My hygiene is extremely good, I hydrate as much as possible (~ 1.3-1.8 litres a day).
General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
There are Bartholomew glands in between labia majora and minora. It acts for lubrication of vagina. Sometimes it's duct is blocked to cause swelling, infection and inflammation of the gland. This is bartholinitis. You seem to have the same and need antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs as well as incision &drained in some patients. You need to get physically examined by a gynecologist for confirmation and treatment.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
