What Causes A Burning And Stabbing Sensation Across The Back?
I had over a month ago a burning, stabbing sensation across my upper back where the shoulder blades are, I had a Ekg, no heart attack or fluid around the heart, I had a MRI thoracic negative results, I fractured my right shoulder 10 years ago/humerus 3way split, and I wonder if that is causing this more so on right back shoulder blade, but my dr. is ordering ultrasound of gallbladder. What do you think this is caused by?

Noted teh history about having burning and stabbing pain atthe upper back where the shoulder blades are, no heart related problems, had fractured shoulder and humerus 10 years ago, Doctor sis ordering ultgrasound for gall bladder.
The gall bladder pain can be referred to the same area as you have explained hence ultrasound to confirm or rule out any gallbladder related problems will help a lot.
Other causes I can think about are as follows:
Nerve entrapment.
Herpes zoster or post-herpetic pain can present in teh same way wherein the rash might have been m,issed as this is at upper back.
May not be related to the fractures 10 years ago.
Please discuss all these possibilities with your Doctor so that an appropriate clinical examination and investigations can be done to find the cause and treat accordingly.
