What Causes A Burning Sensation In The Buttocks Of A 7-year-old?

My 7 year old grandson is complaining that his bottom is hurting, burning and stinging. This has been going on for a couple of days, we have cleaned the area, used Desitin Cream and applied powder, he is still complaining that it hurts and these do not seem to be working. Is there anything else we can try? Thank you, Nadine

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Usually the burning sensation in buttocks is due to peri anal skin cracks from hard stool, diaper rash or others.

As conventional methods of home remedies are not working, I recommend a physical examination with his paediatrician. Till that time sitz bath with salted lukewarm water will help.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
