What Causes A Change In The Color Of Stool?

I have been noticing my stool feces has been changing color...from a brown to tan now to a shalk white in color...About 3 years ago I heard on Dr Oz that this could be the begining of pancreatic cancer......As an old ER nurse, I was just wondering what it could be?
