I think I may have cracked the end of my rib cage ( at the diaphragm level) yesterday reaching into a meat display at the grocery store. I am 5 feet tall and was reaching for something in the back. As I leaned forward, I heard a pop/cracking sound. I have had discomfort on inhalation on the right side since, but walked 4 miles this morning and have done my daily activities today (with some discomfort). I am 67 years old, still employed and very active. I do have osteoporosis in my hips. If there is essentially no treatment for cracked ribs, except limitation in activity based on discomfort, is it necessary to see a doctor?
