What Causes A Dark Bruise On The Forearm After Using A Dust Spray?

Do I have a bruise on my arm or something more? Explanation: A few days ago, a friend of mine and I were using a dust spray and doing dumb things with it (when turned upside down, the liquid inside the can comes out and can pretty much freeze things). My friend sprayed my forearm for about 5 seconds, maybe more, and a short while afterwards for about an hour or so, the area where it was sprayed became light pinkish/red and a bit swollen. A few hours later it turned into dark black/blue. What makes me think it s a bruise, and I m only 90% sure it is, is that it has all the qualities of a bruise. The color and the time it took to change colors, and it s warm to the touch as compared to other parts of skin. I figure it might be that the prolonged cold temp ruptured the blood vessels in that area of the arm and now it s on a path to healing itself. (Little side note, we ve sprayed that stuff on skin to mess around before, never for any longer than a second and this has never happened, hence why I think the vessels ruptured under an extreme temperature for a long period, stupid things to do but we do it either way) I ve looked into other possible things but nothing other than a typical bruise has the same qualities as this, at least not from what I ve been looking at.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Yes, it is a bruise caused by blood clotting below the skin. Since you have an inflammation take Acetaminophen (Tylenol), one SOS when required(when discomfort). You can apply ointment Thrombophob gel, an anticoagulant on the area affected to prevent the inflammation & clotting of the blood. The pain & swelling should get reduced in a couple of days. Never play with such things, it can be hazardous.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
