I had a stillborn on the 23rd may 2010 at 29 weeks. I had normal lochia for about 6 weeks, then 2 weeks later my first period after. I was due to start my period again on Monday 26th July and have not. I've taken 2 pregnancy tests and both negative but i'm still late. Can stress cause my period to be late? I'm really keen to get pregnant and i'm driving myself crazy thinking i possibly could be pregnant and the tests are wrong but i know deep down i'm probably not but i'm still hoping.
Hello, I have gone through your query and understood the concern. Return of ovulation after an abortion or delivery can happen in a couple of months with or without lactation. Irregular menstruation also is common owing to transient hormone imbalance as the body gets adjusted to the altered hormone status, releasing itself from the unopposed progesterone action. Since you had repeatedly negative pregnancy tests, chances of pregnancy are less. Yet, you can get better clarification through the blood test for pregnancy. A sonogram of the pelvis adds more clarity. Hope this helps.
