What Does Brown Vaginal Discharge With Cramping Indicate?
Hi my name is Caressa, and i had a baby girl 7 /12 weeks ago via C-section and I had the lochia bleeding for about 2 weeks then it stopped but I ve recently started have brownish red discharge with a little bit of cramping Could this be my period? or my body s way of still cleansing itself? I also breastfeed as well
After delivery it will take some time for regularization of the reproductive hormone levels, especially in breastfeeding women sometimes few months of amenorrhea can be seen. The discharge you are having 12 weeks after cesarean section could be premenstrual spotting indicating the onset of menstrual periods.
Usually this can turn into regular menstrual flow, but sometimes a regular spotting can be seen in the post pregnancy period under the influence of hormone serum prolactin which is responsible for breast milk production. Possibly your cycles may get regularized soon. If the spotting persists better to consult your gynecologist once, get examined and undergo an ultrasound to rule out retained products of conception, if everything is normal no need to worry.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
