What Causes A Discharge Filled Lump On Top Of The Arm?
Hi Dr,
I have a lump on the top off my arm when squeezed a white discharge comes out ( there is a smell) has been there for yrs, each time it's squeezed ... It seems no more comes out till it builds up and it becomes a prominent lump once again. Now it's bigger then before hasn't been touched in a while, it isn't painful until squeezed until it goes from white discharge to clear then a bit of blood. What is it? And how do I get rid of it? Regards Nikki
Hi, this is a Sebaceous cyst or a Dermoid cyst. It is a common swelling in all parts of the body. The are cysts collected with Sebum or secretions of the Sebaceous glands in the skin. The only definitive treatment is removal by Surgery. Pinching it and squeezing it are not advisable as this can lead to infections. It can cause redness and pain. I suggest you get it removed by a small Surgery and can be done by any Surgeon under local anaesthesia without getting admitted to the hospital. So, I suggest you get it removed and get rid of it. Take care, Dr Rishi, New Delhi, India.
