What Causes A Feeling Of Chemical Taste In The Mouth?

I have been on prevacid for two years for heartburn. It was normal heartburn but now I get a feeling like my tongue has literally been burned by a chamical and sometimes I get a chemical taste in my mouth. Almost like kerosene or something. Very strange bad and scary! Is there any explanation for this?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain feeling of chemical taste in mouth as well as burnt feeling in mouth can be due to a condition known as Burning Mouth Syndrome and it can be due to a number of causes like dry mouth, nutritional deficiency or iron, vitamin B12,allergic reaction to medicines, acid reflux, infections like Thrush etc..
You should consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical examination and certain investigations can help in ruling out the exact cause of the problem..
As of now you can gargle with a numbing mouthwash to prevent burning and scalding..
Take a multivitamin tablet daily..
Suck ice pops,,Chew sugar free chewing gums to stimulate saliva avoid..
