What Causes A Feeling Of Fluttering In The Throat For A 58-year-old?

I ve been having a fluttering in my throat then sometimes an urge to cough. It s intermittent..sometimes lasts for 5 mins. I feel basically fine though otherwise. I am 58 - female, caucasian taking no prescription drugs except for GERD but take only intermittently when eating foods that aggrevate it. I have been recently taking garcinia cambogia..could that be causing it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms can be related to GERD. The acid reflux can cause the fluttering in the throat and the cough. I suggest to use antacids such as Omeprazole 20 mg daily. I also suggest using Maalox three times a day.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
