What Causes A Feeling Of Tightness At The Bottom Of The Rib Cage?
26 yr old, smoker, about half a pack to a pack a day. I ve had this odd feeling in my abdomen near the bottom of the left rib cage that feels a bit tight or sharp at times, and it can also stay in around where I think my heart is. Sometimes if I move a certain way and breath deep it catches in a sharp pain I ve been in for an ultra sound and my doctor and I ruled out gallstones. I m not sure if it s directly linked to the chest area or if it s mimicking some symptoms of chest/heart pain.
hello thank you for writing us here. if you have gall stones, you're most likely to have pain on right side which sometimes radiates to right shoulder and back. pain on left side is most probably due to costochondritis which is the inflammation of the rib cartilage. you can use simple NSAIDs like ibuprofen for pain relief. it would be alright in a week or two depending on the cause of inflammation. God bless you
best regards, Dr Gunjan
