What Causes A Fluttering Feeling In Lower Abdominal Area?

Hi My last period was July 4, 2016 I began to feel fluttering in the lower part of my abdomen about a week and a half before I was due for my period for Aug 1st. (28 day cycle) I took a pregnancy test the week before my period was due, the results returned negative. However I did not start my menstrual until Aug 2nd a day late, tho I am never regular so that doesn t concern me much. The fluttering had stopped for about two days, today August 3rd I am still flowing normal and the fluttering continues. I have been feeling fatigue, emotional, and had a great appetite lately. I have 2 other children and I don t remember ever getting my period while pregnant.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for your query.
If you still feel that you could be pregnant, please take another pregnancy test.
However, I think it unlikely as you have you period.

If this uneasiness /fluttering continues
I recommend :
-an OBGYN consult
-an ultrasound pelvis
-blood tests (reproductive hormone levels, TSH complete blood count ),
-urine analysis.

I would like to rule out ovarian cysts and a urine infection. The fluttering feeling could be due to an increased blood flow to the area during the second half of your menstrual cycle.
The other symptoms would lead me to rule out anemia and hormonal imbalances.

Please stay well hydrated and have a nutritious diet.
Hope this helps.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
Wish you good health
