What Causes A Hard Bump At The Corner Of The Mouth?
I have a small hard bump in the corner of my mouth, it looks like a large white head. I know I shouldn't have but I tried popping and draining it. It healed over and looks exactly the same. It feels hard, like a small round bead, about 1/16 inch in diameter
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have hard bump at the corner of the mouth which seems to be due to herpetic gingivostomatitis.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to
- Use topical application of gel like mucopain 3-4 times on the bump.
- Take diet rich in multivitamins.
- Take vitamin B12 capsules and drink plenty of fluids.
- Avoid sun exposure and fried spicy food.
- Apply cold compresses to affected area several times a day.
Consult dentist/dermatologist for proper evaluation and rule out causes like neuropathy, bacterial infection. Doctor may prescribe oral/topical antibiotics / antiviral depending upon your condition.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that hard lump at the corner of mouth along with large white head appearance seems to be due to hair follicle infection known as Folliculitis and white head appearance is due to pus formation due to infection..
I would suggest you to consult a General Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can be done.. You can be advised oral antibiotics along with topical application of antibiotic ointment.. Do cool compresses over it.. If there is pain anti inflammatory painkiller can help.. Avoid scratching it to prevent spread of infection..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
